It's been a long hard winter and the hunters (and their staff) have had a difficult time - but the snowdrops are out and the daffodils are starting to push through and the birds are changing their tunes. A few of the horses have mud fever which needs time-consuming treatment which, after 40 years, i have got down to a fine art - quite therapeutic really. Thoughts are turning to eventing, dressage, outdoor showjumping, bluebell rides and riding along the South Downs and the beach.
Horses will start to enjoy the sun on their backs, the longer days and the sweet spring grass - my favourite time of the year.
Exciting young horses are starting to bloom too. And, not just the horses, but new clients starting to blossom - also a really rewarding part of the job. The hunting season has done its job of bringing on young horses and riders and they are ready now to be more finely tuned.
Woody Woodpecker has done well this winter having a great season hunting (see pic below).
Melissa Joannides qualified for the Dengie Dressage Novice, finishing 3rd, with 72.96% - and is now really established with his show-jumping, jumping double clears since December. He is now ready for his first BE outing at Munstead.
Siobhan White has also had a good winter with CK finishing 4th in the Pony Club team showjumping at Sands out of 16 teams - her first team appearance.

Hunter trials will be starting in the next couple of weeks so let's hope they all do well.

do, now working on the flat. No blemishes. Would suit lady or gentleman. Fully vaccinated with a green book.

LLOYD

16hh Beautiful black Irish gelding 5 this time. Has been hunted lightly this
season and is now ready to start combined training ready for eventing.
Big floating paces. We've been producing him slowly and correctly as he
has a big future. Straight moving and viceless - a fantastic project.
Vaccinated and passport.
FREEDOM

17 hh 12 year old mare. We've owned her since a 5 year old. She is a
real schoolmistress and would make an ideal lady master's horse. Evented, lovely
flatwork, light and floating paces. This has been her first season hunting
and has proved to be the perfect lady. No vices, manners to burn and a
pleasure to ride. Very scopey and clever.
MR P

16.1hh 10 year old gelding. All rounder, his first season hunting this
year and has been seen to lead the field over hedges. No blemishes or
vices fantastic on the flat and showjumping. A very good looking horse
with low mileage.
